De Ridder is still playing for Wigan Athletic, but has yet to feature under their new manager Roberto Martinez. Wigan currently find themselves sitting in 12th place in the league.

Daniel De Ridder has obviously impressed Steve Bruce during his time at Birmingham City, as the now Wigan Athletic boss has just signed the dutch midfielder after he was released by Birmingham football club following their relegation from the Premiership to the Championship.

Steve Bruce brought Daniel from Spanish club side Celta Vigo when he was the Birmingham manager, but a few months later Bruce left to become manager of Premiership side Wigan.

Bruce has now brought in De Ridder who he sees as a highly talented footballer, with a lot of flair and good footballing ability, which he wasn't often able to show when playing in the relegation battles at Birmingham.

Here is a photograph of Daniel De Ridder looking proud displaying his Holland shirt. De Ridder hasn't been involved in Holland's interesting Euro 2008 display. The dutch looked to be in great form until they met a highly disciplined Russian side who defeated them at the quater final stages.
De Ridder will surely be hopeful of having a part to play at the national level at some point in the future, although he will probably want to sort out his club future first.

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that Daniel De Ridder is nearly fully recovered from injury, after having trouble with a minor ankle knock.
De Ridder has so far only made 1 appearance for Birmingham in the Premiership, and this was only as a sub.
It is believed that he will be fully fit in time for next weekends clash against Liverpool at the Anfield stadium, after having sat out of the win against fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers.
